shoezone is a well-loved retail institution in the UK, with 270 stores and 2,200 employees across the country selling a massive 16 million pairs of shoes a year.
The company can trace its roots back to 1917 and while John Worth Group can’t claim to have been part of their team for quite that long, our relationship does date back more than three decades.
Why has our partnership proven so durable? Importantly, we are both family businesses with a strong ethical base that have grown together, committed to preserving the best of traditional retail and embracing the most effective new ideas.
Today, John Worth Group’s provides shoezone with comprehensive project management across its entire network of stores and more. This means delivering a complete shopfitting service, introducing design and value engineering suggestions, manufacturing high quality retail joinery, supplying comprehensive MEP services and ensuring full health and safety compliance – all to a carefully controlled budget and exacting timeline.
Together, we’ve created a number of notable concepts – for instance, implementing the company’s first “big box” store for retail parks and out of town spaces at Launceston in 2016. This model has since been repeated in many locations across the UK and several of the ideas introduced have found their way into new hybrid, high street stores.
We often work concurrently on multiple turnkey projects for shoezone and in the last three years have completed no fewer than 120 different assignments for them across their stores, head office and distribution centre.
Finally, sustainability has increasingly become a priority at the company in recent years and here John Worth Group has again played a key role, installing new highly efficient lighting systems across a wide range of premises, fitting electric vehicle chargers at their head office and introducing modern heating systems across several sites.
It’s a huge departure from the very first projects we completed together in the 1990s but a great example of how we continue to evolve together.
